Baldur's Gate 3 fans have reason to celebrate as cross-play capabilities are in development. This highly anticipated feature will enable players on PC and PlayStation 5, with Xbox joining in the future, to enjoy online gameplay together.

Cross-Play Confirmed for Baldur's Gate 3

Larian Studios has recently provided official confirmation that cross-play functionality is indeed on the horizon for Baldur's Gate 3. While an exact release date is yet to be disclosed, the studio has shared a rough timeline for its implementation, emphasizing that cross-play has been part of their vision since the early stages of the game's development. Fans can eagerly anticipate an upcoming update that will unite players across different platforms within the enchanting realm of Baldur's Gate 3.

Play With Friends Across Platforms

Baldur's Gate 3, much like Dungeons & Dragons, offers an enjoyable experience whether played solo or with friends. While the game supports two-player split-screen co-op on PlayStation 5 and PC, multiplayer gameplay currently requires all players to be on the same platform.

However, the split-screen performance on PS5 is suboptimal, as it limits the game to 30 FPS in Quality Visual Mode, which may feel noticeably choppier compared to the smoother 60 FPS Performance Mode.

Additionally, the development of an Xbox version adds complexity to cross-play implementation. It remains to be seen whether Larian Studios will introduce cross-play before or after the Xbox release.

Exciting Updates for Baldur's Gate 3 Players

Baldur's Gate 3 brings fantastic news for players, as it offers full cross-platform progression. With the release of the PS5 version, those who have been playing on PC can seamlessly access their saves on the console, allowing them to continue their journey uninterrupted. To enjoy this feature, simply create a Larian account and take advantage of ongoing Twitch drops.

The inclusion of cross-platform and cross-play functionality is excellent news for co-op RPG enthusiasts. Despite the announcement that Xbox Series X won't support split-screen co-op for BG3 due to hardware limitations, Larian Studios is still determined to bring Baldur's Gate 3 to Xbox before the end of 2023.

Once cross-play is implemented, Baldur's Gate 3 fans will have the opportunity to experience its exceptional co-op mechanics alongside their friends, regardless of the platform they choose.
