Voice chat is not enabled by default. To enable it, users must be at least 13 years old and have verified their identity with Roblox. These conditions aim to ensure a safe, healthy and age-appropriate communication environment, especially protecting children from inappropriate content.
Verifying by phone number is enough if you are in these countries: United States, Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Mexico, Chile, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Uruguay, El Salvador, Honduras, Paraguay, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Bolivia, Venezuela, Panama, Portugal, and Brazil. Outside of these areas, age verification with an ID is required.
Start by logging into your Roblox account. Then go to the Settings page. If you’re already signed in, you can go there directly. Once inside Settings, click on Account Info in the left-hand menu — this is where age verification begins.
This option is only available on supported countries.
Go to the Account Info tab.
Click Add Phone and enter a valid mobile number.
Roblox will first send a verification code to your email.
After verifying your email, you'll get an SMS code.
Enter the code to finish the process.
Once complete, you’ll be able to turn on voice chat.
Used in regions where phone verification isn’t supported.
Click Verify with ID from your account settings.
Scan the QR code with your phone.
Upload both sides of a government-issued ID.
Take a selfie to confirm your identity.
Submit the info and wait for approval through Roblox’s secure system.
After successful verification, you’ll be allowed to enable voice chat.
After verification, return to your account Settings on the app or website. Then go to the Privacy and Content Restrictions tab. In the Communication section, look for the voice chat setting and toggle "Use microphone to chat with voice" to ON. When the toggle turns green, voice chat is officially active on your account.
Join a game that supports voice chat. If a game supports voice chat, a mic icon appears above your avatar:
Muted: A slash will appear on the icon.
Unmuted: The mic icon will light up, showing your voice is being broadcast.
Click the mic icon to toggle mute/unmute.
You can mute specific players during a game by opening the player list and clicking the speaker icon next to their name. This is helpful for managing noise or avoiding distractions.
While Roblox supports voice chat on PC and mobile devices, this feature is not available for console platforms like Xbox and PlayStation.
