Head to the Discord website or Discord app on your device and log into the Discord account if you're not already logged in.

Scroll to the bottom left of the task bar
Select the plus icon named “Add a Server”.
At the very bottom, choose “Join a Server”
Type the URL following the syntax “https://discord.gg/name of the server”. For example, you want to join PlaySwap’s server, then type "https://discord.gg/PlaySwap"
Hit “Join Server” > Accept The Invite
You can type whatever you want, but keep in mind it needs to be a big word, I mean a related-word to a public server that is open to everybody. If you put something obscure then potentially no link that exists for a specific server.
Another way to join the server without an invite link is by using Server Discovery Tab. Take in mind that it only works with the public server, with the private server, you can only join the server through the link.
To access Server Discover:
Scroll to the bottom left of the task bar
Select the Compass icon named “Discovery”.
Now you're on the Server Discovery Tab, you can seek new communities by browsing the categories, or use the search bar at the top to type in topics that interest you.
If you’re unsure which kind of community to join, start by exploring some of Discord's most popular servers on the top of the tab, devided in many topics such as gaming, music, education and more.
Click on each category to view a curated list of servers. Each server preview includes a brief description, member count, current active member. Now take time to explore and find the perfect fit.
If browsing doesn’t yield what you’re looking for, the search bar in the upper right corner is your go-to tool. Type in specific keywords related to your interests, press the "Enter" and Discord will generate a list of servers matching your search term.
Once you find a server that catches your eye, click on it and you'll be taken to the preview mode of the server, which allows you explore the server before deciding whether to join. You can browse through the available channels and see what the server offers without fully committing to becoming a member.
Hit Join [Sever's name] on the very top when you're ready to join. If you change your mind, simply hit "Back".
