Getting Discord on Xbox is to link your Discord and Xbox accounts. There are two ways to do this — you can either start from the Discord app or from your Xbox console. Both options work the same on Xbox Series S and Series X, so just go with the one that’s most convenient for you. We’ll guide you through both methods in detail.
On Desktop app or Web Browser
Open Discord and click the gear icon at the bottom-left corner to go to User Settings.
Go to the Connections tab.
Click the Xbox icon, then press Continue.
A browser window will open asking for your Microsoft account credentials. Sign in to your Xbox account.
Review the authorization message, then click Authorize and Continue.
On Mobile app
Open the Discord app and tap your profile avatar in the bottom-right corner to open User Settings.
Tap the gear icon in the top-right to go to Settings > Connections.
Tap the Xbox icon, or tap Add in the top-right and select Xbox.
Press Getting Started when prompted to begin linking your accounts.
Tap Continue to open an in-app browser. Sign in to your Microsoft account.
Review the permissions and tap Authorize and Continue.
On your Xbox, press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.
Navigate to Profile & System > Settings > Account > Linked social accounts.
Under Not Linked, find Discord and select Link.
Follow the on-screen prompts to sign in and authorize the connection between Discord and your Xbox account.
Once your Discord and Xbox accounts are connected, you can join any Discord voice channel directly from your console. Here’s how to do it:
Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the Guide menu.
Head over to Parties & Chats, choose Discord.
Select your joined servers and choose the voice channel you want to join.
If no servers or voice chats show up in the Discord section, you probably haven’t joined one yet. Open the Discord app, join a server or voice channel, then try again on your Xbox.
To use Discord Voice Chat on Xbox via your mobile device, make sure you have the Xbox app installed from your device’s app store. This step is required to transfer your voice chat from Discord to your Xbox console. Steps to connect:
Open the Discord app on your phone and select the server and voice channel you want to join.
Inside the voice channel, swipe up to access audio controls, then tap Join on Xbox.
If the Xbox app is already installed, it will launch automatically. If not, you’ll be prompted to download it from the App Store or Google Play.
Once the Xbox app is open, choose the console you want to connect to and tap Transfer Audio to send your Discord voice chat to your Xbox.
After the connection is established, you can manage your microphone directly from the Discord app - mute yourself or deafen audio by swiping up while in the voice channel. These settings will be mirrored on your Xbox console.
If you're unable to join or speak in Discord voice chat on Xbox, double-check your privacy settings in the Xbox app. Make sure that you set cross-network play to Allow and communicate via voice and text with users outside of Xbox to Everybody.
On your desktop Discord app, join the voice channel you want, then click the phone + controller icon in the bottom-left corner. Alternatively, right-click the voice channel name.
Select Transfer Voice to Xbox.
A QR code will appear - scan it using your phone. Make sure you’ve installed both the Discord and Xbox mobile apps.
Follow the instructions in the Discord mobile app to complete the voice transfer to your Xbox.
