What are Discord badges?

What are Discord badges

Discord badges are small icons that show up on your profile, each one representing something cool you’ve done on the platform. You can stack multiple badges on your profile to show off everything you’ve accomplished. Some badges are easy to earn, while others need requirements or are no longer available to new users.

How to get all Discord Badges in 2025

Discord provides users a range of badges, each highlighting different achievements or involvement. Below will show you detailed information of each profile badge.

Typical Badges

New Server Member Badge

The New Server Member badge is displayed next to the name of users who have been part of a server for less than a week. Once your membership reaches seven days, the badge is automatically removed. Additionally, leaving and rejoining the server will reset this badge.

Discord Nitro Badge

Discord Nitro Badge

The Nitro badge is awarded to users who subscribe to Discord Nitro, including Nitro and Nitro Basic. With Nitro, you not only get this shiny badge but also access to perks like custom emojis, higher upload limits, and server boosts. But there are slight differences between the benefits of Nitro and Nitro Basic.

By hovering your mouse over the badge, you can see when you subscribed and the date your subscription will expire. Once your subscription ends, this badge disappears from your profile.

Server Boost Badge

Server Boost Badge

Server Boost Badge is certification for your support for a Discord server you care about. This pink badge highlights your contribution on helping the server unlock extra features like better audio and more customization options.

Hovering over the badge, you can see how long you’ve been boosting. The badge continuously evolves and gains different designs to reflect your ongoing support. However, once you stop boosting, the boost streak and your badge will reset to the first level.

For users boosting multiple servers, the badge will display the longest boost streak, representing the highest level or duration achieved across all servers.

Hype Squad Badge

Hype Squad Badge

The HypeSquad badge is available to users who join one of Discord’s HypeSquad houses: Bravery, Brilliance, or Balance. All you need to do is take a short quiz in your settings to be assigned to a house and earn your badge.

  • Open User Settings by clicking the gear icon next to yourr user name.

  • Next, go to the HypeSquad tab and click the "Join HypeSquad" button to begin.

  • Complete all the questions to be assigned to a house.

Now go back to your profile to see if the badge is showing up. If you wanna to switch houses, click "Take the test again".

To have the Crown Badge, you must be the owner of a Discord server. The badge automatically appears next to your name in the member list unless the server's member list is disabled or the badge visibility is turned off in the server settings.

If you transfer ownership to someone else, the badge will move to the new owner.

Rare Badges

These badges are quite special and are awarded to users who have made unique contributions and they hard to come. Here’s a quick look at some of the rarest badges you can earn:

The Bug Hunter badge is awarded to users who have helped Discord by reporting bugs or providing valuable feedback. It’s a way for Discord to acknowledge those who have contributed to improving the platform. This badge has two levels: a Silver Bug Hunter badge and a Gold Bug Hunter badge for those who’ve been exceptionally helpful.

Active Developer Badge

Active Developer Badge

This badge is given to developers who have created and maintained bots or applications that integrate with Discord. While the app doesn't need to be verified, it must have received at least one app command within the past 30 days.

The badge isn't granted automatically. To obtain your Active Developer Badge, visit the Developer Portal, join the Active Developer Program, choose an active app, set up an official server for the app, pick a developer news channel for updates, and then wait for the badge to show up on your profile.

Discord Staff Badge

Discord Staff Badge

The Discord Staff badge is awarded to Discord’s official team members who work directly for the platform. This badge is exclusive to Discord employees, for preventing impersonation by non-Discord employees.

Unobtainable Badges

Early Verified Bot Developer Badge

The Early Verified Bot Developer Badge was given to users who verified a bot that was installed on at least 75 servers. This badge was discontinued in late 2020, but it still appears on the profiles of those who earned it. Even though it’s no longer available, having a verified bot remains a mark of trust and credibility, helping bot developers reach a larger audience.

Legacy Username Badge

Legacy Username Badge

The Legacy Username Badge was awarded to users who had a username with discriminator (#0000) before Discord introduced their new username system. This badge is now considered a relic from the past and is no longer attainable, but it still appears on profiles of users who earned it during the early days of Discord.

Conclusion

Earning all Discord badges is not only making your profile shine, it's also a great way to reflect on your journey on Discord. Although some of these badges are no longer available, you can still get them by buying Discord accounts with badges at PlaySwap. Hope you get the badge collection you’ve been aiming for!
