The thing is - PUBG allows you to change your name but not for free. The process is straightforward but can be a bit confusing for those who have never changed their name before. To change your name in PUBG, you need a Rename Card. This item costs 180 UC, which is the in-game currency. If you’ve never changed your name before, check your inventory. PUBG gives players one free Rename Card when they reach level 10. After getting a Rename Card, go to your inventory, find the card, and tap “Use.” Type in your new name, then confirm to apply the change.

In the past, players could also get a free Rename Card by not logging in for 25 to 30 days. But now this no longer works. The only way to get a Rename Card is to buy it with UC.

Way to Obtain the Rename Card in PUBG

To change your in-game name in PUBG, you need a Rename Card. This card is not free and players must usually buy it using in-game currency. Below are the steps to get the Rename Card in both PUBG Mobile and PUBG PC.

PUBG Mobile

  1. Open PUBG Mobile and tap the cart icon in the top-right corner of the screen.

  2. Go to the "Treasures" section. Scroll down to find the Rename Card (it has "ID" written on it).

  3. Tap the Rename Card and select the 180 UC option at the bottom-left corner.

  4. Tap Purchase to confirm.

PUBG PC

For PUBG on PC, the steps are slightly different:

  1. Open the game and click on the "Store" at the top of the screen.

  2. Click on "Items", then go to the last section called "Utility."

  3. Find the Nickname Card and click to buy it.

  4. Once purchased, you’ll find it in your Inventory.

  5. To change your name, open the Inventory, click on the Rename Card, press Use, enter your new name, and click OK.

You can only change your name once per day. Since the Rename Card costs 180 UC, choose your new name carefully.

Can You Change Your PUBG Name Without a Rename Card?

No, you can’t change your name in PUBG if you don’t have a Rename Card. The game doesn’t offer any free name change option by default. If you don’t have one and can’t buy it, focus on missions or events that may reward a Rename Card.

Conclusion

Changing your name in PUBG is a small but meaningful update. Whether you're on PC or Mobile, having the option to refresh your identity helps you feel more connected to the game. Now that you know how to change it, you’re free to make your mark the way you want. Whether it's a bold new alias or a subtle update, this small change can bring a new spark to every match you play.

PUBG is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, and Xbox One. But there is no PUBG version on Switch.
