They will not be responsible for being the main damage dealer of the team. They are expert at defending key areas with ranged attacks, put pressure to force opponents into disadvantageous positions, and create opportunities for allies to finish off targets. These abilities make them invaluable in game modes like Hot Zone, Gem Grab, and Knockout, where area control is essential for success.

However, their strength lies in team dynamics, as they can struggle in one-on-one encounters due to their limited direct combat capabilities.

List of All Controller Brawlers - Ranking Worst to Best

This is based on latest meta so keep in mind that this controller tier list can be subjective. Play the brawler you enjoy, even if they are low-tier, as the meta may change and they could become stronger. Now let’s dive in :

17/ Squeak

squerk-controller

Squeak was never a good brawler even with his Hypercharge, at least this meta. I have seen multiple gamers use his Hypercharge in Heist, and I have to admit, it does a lot of damage. But it doesn’t fix Squeak's main weakness, being his sluggish nature. Instead they just slapped another Super on top and called it a day.

16/ Charlie

charlie-controller

Charlie truly has fallen off. Her attack damage is really low and her Gadget is not as good. Plus her Hypercharge is totally bad. But you can use Charlie in modes like Hot Zone and Bounty, where controlling the area and slowing down opponents can give the team an advantage.

15/ Mr.P

mr-p-controller

Mr.P is also not very good. His damage is not too good but he’s mainly useful for running targets. His porters can easily be destroyed by anyone and most assassins can kill him easily. His attacks are slow which can be easily dodged. He could use a buff.

14/ Meeple

Although not too outstanding, Meeple has certain abilities to help control the battlefield and support teammates. He creates great chances for his team to attack through obstacles that are inside the area. However the slow reload speed prevents me from placing him in a better position.

13/ Bo

bo-controller

This guy is truly useful in many situations. His main drawback is with Hypercharge brawlers. They become fast enough to easily avoid Bo’s mines. But he’s good at area control and stun

12/ Chuck

chuck-controller

Chuck should be divided into the damage dealer class. But he really dominates Heist with his high speed. But he’s only played in Heist, Hot Zone and sometimes wipeout. I wonder what a Chuck Hypercharge could look like.

11/ Willow

willow-controller

Willow is not the best controller right now but she’s pretty good. Her super is hard to aim and she can get countered very fast, but it can be useful against assassins.

10/ Otis

otis-controller

Otis is super underrated. His damage is very good and his Super is overpowered. You may feel that his Super takes a while to charge up. Otis excels in Gem Grab, Bounty, and Hot Zone, where his Super can disable enemies and control key areas. He’s especially effective on maps with narrow paths, like Brawl Ball, where he can disrupt opponents and support his team.

9/ Jessie

jessie-controller

She honestly used to be a very good brawler with her Hypercharge. But now she struggles against more aggressive brawlers. Her turret can also be easily destroyed by high damage dealers. Anyway she’s still good enough.

8/ Greff

greff-controller

Griff deals a lot of damage, and his Super is great to finish off enemies. He can also use his gadget to break walls and open up the map, which is especially useful if you're up against throwers, or you have marksmen like Piper or Belle on your team, which will greatly appreciate the open map.

7/ Lou

lou-controller

Lou is really good in the meta. Similar to Gale, he can easily stun any tank with his main attack. He is able to control a wide area with Super and his Hypercharge can be a pain to deal with.

With his abilities, Lou gives his teammates an advantage when playing in 3v3 modes like Gem Grab, covering entire zone in Hot Zone, the stun ability is especially in Showdown, Duo Showdown, Bounty, or Lone Star.

6/ Gene

gene-controller

Gene is a good brawler to use this meta. His versatility and good damage potential makes him really good. He also has the ability to heal his teammates with his Star Power. But his Hypercharge is not the best.

5/ Amber

amber-controller

Amber breathes fire continuously in a wide area, dealing steady damage to any enemy standing within the area of effect. For that reason, Amber does not allow enemies to access important areas or get close to her.

The only drawback with Amber is her reload time. But she has high DPS and her Gadget can really stop assassins. Amber shines in modes like Hot Zone and Gem Grab, where she can capture strategic areas and protect teammates.

4/ Penny

penny-controller

Her Salty Barrel Gadget is a strong defensive tool, blocking shots and dealing heavy damage to enemies who get too close. Her basic attack is decent, but when combined with her gadget, the damage becomes overwhelming. Her turret also adds constant pressure, making it tough for enemies to approach. Use her in modes like Gem Grab, Hot Zone or Showdown for easier winning.

3/ Emz

emz-controller

Emz is a master of zone control. With her Super, she slows down the movements of enemies, creating space for her teammates to finish off them quickly. She is not great in direct confrontation and gets pressured by fast tanks and assassins.
But aside from that, Emz is a great choice in modes like Gem Grab, Brawl Ball, especially Hot Zone due to her long-lasting attack, and maps like Massive Attack or Skull, where her Super can maximize its  potential.

2/ Sandy

sandy-controller

Sandy has crazy area control. He has incredible speed and can really help his teammates. His Super is the most prominent feature, creating a sand zone that makes him and his teammates invisible for a few seconds, allowing the squad to launch surprise attacks, avoid damage, or control important targets effectively.

Sandy’s Super should be advantaged in 3v3 mode, Siege, Gem Grab, Hot Zone, Big Game, but he is not very viable in Heist due to his low damage output.

1/Gale

gale-controller

Gale should be recognized as one of the best controllers in Brawl Star. He can completely embarrass any tank that gets in his way. He's best at keeping aggressive brawlers away from him, with his Super, his whirlwind Gadget, and even his Star Power that inflicts slow down on enemies it hits can prevent them from closing the distance.
