Gameplay of Palworld

In Palworld, you'll take control of a customizable character, exploring the vast Palpagos Islands in a third-person perspective. Survival is key, as you'll need to manage hunger, craft tools, gather materials, and construct bases that serve as convenient fast travel points. As you progress through the game's technology tree, you'll unlock the ability to craft a variety of weapons, structures, and decorations.

Prepare to encounter over 100 unique Pals roaming the islands. Engage them in combat, weaken them, and capture them using special "Pal Spheres." You can obtain Pals by battling them, purchasing them from non-player characters on the black market, or even trading with other players. Once acquired, these Pals can be summoned for battles or stationed at your bases to assist with various tasks such as scavenging, crafting, and cooking, all based on their distinctive abilities. It's worth noting that each Pal possesses a valuable Partner Skill, adding an extra layer of utility as you can use them as weapons or mounts.

Palworld features a diverse range of factions, including the likes of the Rayne Syndicate criminal organization, the Free Pal Alliance liberation movement, the Brothers of the Eternal Pyre fanatical group, the Palpagos Islands Defense Force (a police-like organization), and the Pal Genetic Research Unit.

These factions are led by formidable Pal trainers who reside in scattered towers across the islands, acting as the game's main boss battles. Additionally, human NPCs can be found patrolling the world, engaging in battles, or even posing a threat to you. These NPCs may be hostile, fighting you with their own weapons.

Keep in mind that your criminal activities, often involving humans, can trigger hostility not only from other NPCs but also from the Palpagos Islands Defense Force, as the game incorporates a wanted level system.

Navigating the world of Palworld can be a bit perplexing, as it follows a hands-off approach with minimal guidance throughout your playthrough. This guide is here to assist you in getting started on your Palworld journey.

Beginner's Guide to Palworld: 7 Things to Do First

Collecting Materials

In Palworld, gathering materials is a simple yet crucial process. As you begin your journey and unlock the Fast Travel point, start exploring the world and pick up woods, stones, and Paldium Fragments. These three resources serve as the foundation for crafting essential structures like the Crafting Station, chests, and Pal Spheres. You can find them lying on the ground or obtain them by chopping trees and mining stones for Paldium Fragments.

Don't forget to gather food as well! Berries are abundant in the open world, and some Pals, like Lamball, drop food that you can cook to satisfy your character's hunger.

Unlocking Technology

In Palworld, you have Technology Points that you can spend to unlock various structures. Press Tab on your keyboard to access the technology tab, where you'll find a selection of structures and the points needed to unlock them. Start by unlocking the Crafting Station, Pal Sphere, and Chest for a solid foundation.

Craft a Pal Sphere and Capture a Pal!

A Pal Sphere is a valuable tool used to capture Pals, the creatures that roam the open world. Pals have unique traits and can provide significant assistance in your base. Some Pals can transport items to your chests, while others can mine stones and Paldium Fragments.

Cattiva is the recommended Pal to catch early on, as they can mine, transport goods, gather berries, and even assist with crafting. As you progress, you'll encounter more Pals with different abilities, so make sure to check their traits to see how they can contribute to your base!

Upgrade Your Stats!

Each time you level up, you'll receive stat points that can be allocated to enhance your character's HP, Stamina, Attack, Work Speed, or carrying capacity. Consider improving your Stamina first, as it allows you to swim, climb, and reach areas that were previously inaccessible.

Sleep or Venture Out?

Surviving the first night in Palworld can be achieved by sleeping it off. To do this, you'll need a Bed and a House. Prioritize building a house, as beds cannot be placed in the open. Use this time to customize your base by adding chests or Pal Beds if desired.

Alternatively, you can choose not to sleep and venture out into the wild to catch more Pals and expand your Pal army. In this case, craft a hand-held torch to keep warm at night and light up your surroundings.

Build a Campfire

A campfire is a vital addition to your base and should be constructed before nightfall. It serves two purposes: keeping you warm and cooking food. This structure allows you to transform ingredients into cooked meals that satisfy hunger more effectively.

As mentioned earlier, defeated Pals like Lamball drop Mutton, which can be cooked, and Chikipi drops eggs or meat that can also be used in cooking.

Explore!

Once you have settled in, it's time to embark on an exciting exploration! Don't worry, you can easily teleport to your base and different parts of the map if you have unlocked the associated waypoints. During your exploration, you'll encounter more Pals that can make your base operations smoother and might even come across helpful NPCs along the way.
